Mechatronics

The portmanteau "mechatronics" is composed of the words mechanics, electronics, and computer science.

As a multidisciplinary discipline, mechatronics combines specialist knowledge of individual areas such as machinery, equipment, and systems, in order to enhance the phases of a development process.

Mechatronics is, unconsciously for many, already part of everyday life: The products range from consumer electronics (DVD players, cameras, CD players, etc.) to robotics (creation of fully automatic factories). But even the most complex medical devices (pacemakers, invasive pumps, etc.) or modern components of motor vehicles (ABS, airbag, etc.) can be assigned to that term.
