To help you improve your German while you are studying at the Jade University of Applied Sciences, we offer German courses during the semester at the Wilhelmshaven and Oldenburg campuses.

All courses for the university's international students listed here are offered in cooperation with the ver.di (German United Services Trade Union) educational institution (Bildungswerk der Vereinten Dienstleistungsgewerkschaft in Niedersachsen e. V.).

German for beginners A1

Who can participate?

International students

What is our aim?

The course is aimed at international students with little or no knowledge of German. The main focus will lie on improving communicate competences and knowlegde of grammar. Furthermore, different study-related text types will be introduced and worked on to aid with the students' studies.

What topics will we work on?

We will mainly be looking at topics connected to education and German culture and through these introduce and practice grammatical structures and technical terminology. The students will work on projects, which will be presented throughout the seminar. There will be an exam at the end of the course.

German for advanced learners A2/B1

What is our aim?

The course is aimed at international students with an advanced knowledge of German. The main focus will lie on improving communicate competences and knowlegde of grammar. Furthermore, different study-related text types will be introduced and worked on to aid with the students' studies.

German pronunciation and communication

Who can participate?

International students

Course aim

The course is aimed at full-time students studying at the Jade UAS within the frame of partner programmes who have a good knowledge of German. Our main focus will be to improve the students' pronunciation and communication skills. We will be working with different study-related oral text types.

What topics will we work on?

We will mainly be looking at topics connected to education and German culture and through these look at typical communication structures, behavioural patterns, and technical terminology. Dialogues will be practised through role play and scenic presentation of typical dialogues at university and everyday life. At the end of the course, typical dialogues in a higher education context will be presented in a final presentation which is open to university members.

TestDaF prep course

TestDaF – the German quivalent of the TOEFL test – is a centralised and standardised Test for German as a foreign language. It is particularly important for students who want to study in Germany and are required to provide a language certificate, or for students who need to provide a language certificate in their home country.

Who can participate?

International students

Course aim
The course is aimed at full-time students studying at the Jade UAS within the frame of partner programmes who have a C1 level of German. During the course speaking, listening and writing skills as well as knowledge of grammar will be improved. The course's aim is the successful participation in the TestDaF exam.

Our main focus will be to improve the students' pronunciation and communication skills. We will be working with different study-related oral text types.
