Guided by our vision of creating more time and space for quality, we are charting a course through the responsible and prudent use of AI. The focus here is on freeing up resources for what really matters: high-quality work in study and teaching, applied research, practical knowledge and technology transfer, and close links with society.

    Key areas

    • AI Labs

The AI Labs at the Teaching and Learning Centre offer a modern learning environment for the practical and responsible use of artificial intelligence in study and teaching. Expert teaching staff, high-quality infrastructure and pedagogical innovation enable students to understand AI, use it confidently and develop it creatively. Work compliant with the AI Act, future-oriented teaching and learning formats, pilot projects and curriculum workshops are encouraged.

    • Spatial AI

Even in the age of AI, 80 per cent of decisions made in business and public administration have a spatial dimension. This is illustrated by examples such as energy-efficient smart cities, autonomous ship navigation and infrastructure monitoring using drones. That is why Jade University of Applied Sciences is establishing the Spatial AI Centre.

    • AI for Navigation

The “AI in Navigation” project incubator develops solutions for sustainable and autonomous maritime mobility. It is creating AI-supported approaches for vessel navigation, condition monitoring and maritime infrastructure – ranging from smart route planning to port and safety technologies. The incubator enhances efficiency, safety and decarbonisation in shipping and accelerates the transfer of knowledge to the maritime sector.

      learning AI

Through lernKI, seven universities in Lower Saxony are jointly developing an innovative support system designed to assist students and lecturers in their day-to-day academic lives and to enhance academic success in the long term. The initiative stems from the changing educational landscape, which is shaped by more diverse student groups, rising expectations and new opportunities brought about by generative AI.
