    • You can suggest items to be acquired by your Campus Library. Please contact the circulation desk with your literature requests. The Library decides on the purchase.

      University members can use the online acquisition form on the Intranet.

    • Borrowing items is free of charge, the majority of the library stock is available for loan. You can borrow a maximum of 50 items at a time.

      Items marked as unavailable for loan can be borrowed overnight after 16:00 or over the weekend from Friday afternoon, they need to be returned the following morning by 9:00

    • The Database Information System DBIS offers direct access to all licensed databases – including wiso, Nautos (DIN standards), beck-online, Scopus, SpringerLink and LinkedIn Learning.

      You can start your search in DBIS either via a database keyword or by selecting a subject area. A list of the top databases for each subject area can be found at the beginning of the database overview.

      DBIS also lets you search more than 5000 databases that are freely available on the web and are highlighted in green in the portal. If the label contains a "D", access to this database is supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG).

    • The Elektronische Zeitschriftenbibliothek (EZB) (Electronic Journals Library) – a complete register of e-journals – offers a targeted search for relevant journals.

      You can search by subject area or by title keyword.

      Scientific journals that are freely accessible according to the principles of open access and the articles published therein are listed in the Directory of Open Access Journals.

      The majority of available online journals are indexed as articles in our search portal ORBISplus, so that you can access the respective full texts directly via the portal.

    • Please remember to return items or extend the loan period in time. 

      If the due date is exceeded, fees will be charged according to the fee schedule. The fee for the first reminder is currently €2, plus €5 for the second and plus €10 for the third reminder per book. Late fees for short loans are €1 per unit/day.

      Fees can only be accepted in cash during opening hours. An invoice can be issued in special cases.

      Renewals can be made online both inside and outside the university network. You are also welcome to request renewals in person, by phone or email.

    • Literature not available in the Library can be ordered via interlibrary loan. Please contact the circulation desk or send us an email.

      • Free of charge: Literature available on other campuses of our University
      • €1.50: Ordering books and copies of articles (max. 20 pages) from other German libraries

      To search for titles outside the Jade University, you can use the Gemeinsamer Verbundkatalog (GVK) (Common Union Catalogue), which contains the holdings of the affiliated libraries in Lower Saxony and 6 other German states. 

      Interlibrary loans adhere to the loan regulations of the Federal Republic of Germany – Leihverkehrsordnung (LVO).

    • Registering at the Library is free for university members, who get their CampusCard activated. Please refer to our guide on the Intranet.

      Citizens of the Weser/Ems region can get registered by showing their valid identification document (national ID or passport with German registration certificate). You will get a library card, which costs €5. Minors need the consent form signed by a legal guardian as well as the guardian's ID (or a copy thereof).

      You will receive further information from our staff during registration.

      In case you lose your library card, please notify the Library immediately. A replacement card costs €5 according to the fee schedule.

    • Loan periods can be renewed via the online user account. The login for the user account is the user number (located below the barcode of your library card) and your password. The loan period is usually extended by 28 days from the date of renewal. You can renew an item up to 8 times if no reservation has been made.

      Please remember to extend the loan period 2-3 days before it expires. If a renewal is no longer possible, this will allow you to return the book in time without incurring overdue fines.

      If you are unable to renew via the online account, you can also do so by phone, email or in person.

    • Scientific working doesn't only play a role during studying and in research. Important basics can already be taught and practised while writing essays or term papers in school. The University Library actively supports school classes in this learning process.
