Qualifications and professional development
The JadeProf project supports academics on their path to a professorship at a university of applied sciences, whilst also promoting the further development of established professors. The aim is to optimally combine practice-oriented qualifications, research and teaching.
Tandem positions in the JadeProf project – practical professional experience for a professorship

Practical professional experience is crucial when applying for a professorship at a University of Applied Sciences: according to the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG), applicants must demonstrate five years’ professional experience, at least three of which must have been gained outside the higher education sector.
The JadeProf project offers suitable candidates the opportunity to gain any missing practical experience, for example through tandem positions in cooperation with our partner OFFIS e.V. – Institute for Computer Science. These positions combine academic work at Jade University of Applied Sciences with practical experience in external institutions.
Recipients of funding:

Priority Professorships in the JadeProf project – Targeted support for research

As well as supporting the development of early-career researchers, JadeProf also helps established professors to develop their key research areas and strengthen the university’s profile.
Holders of these research-focused professorships can reduce their teaching commitments for up to three years in order to carry out research projects. Substitute teaching is funded from project funds, ensuring that teaching continues to be provided.

Quotes: Tandem
The JadeProf project gives me the opportunity to gain a deeper insight into the role of a professor and to gain valuable experience in this field. I find the professional exchange and networking with colleagues who are following similar paths particularly valuable, as well as the opportunity to work together to generate new ideas for teaching and research.
