This project aims at establishing a method to experimentally determine, in vivo, mechanical properties of human ear canal walls and to use this method to obtain knowledge about ear canal wall mechanical impedances as a function of thelocation, i.e. depth, in the ear canal, and of age, sex and hearing aid use. Ideally, a 3D spatial radial impedance map will be obtained. This knowledge will make it possible to derive a link between canal wall mechanical impedances, earshell design, and subjectivewearer’s comfort for hearing aid users and to derive future applications using captured ear canal vibrations.for individual subjects.
