Guest study program

As a guest student at our university, you have the opportunity to attend selected lectures and seminars from the current lecture schedule without being formally enrolled on a degree program.

This offer is aimed at anyone interested in expanding or deepening their knowledge in various subject areas. Guest students have the opportunity to get to know the university and the course.

Whether you are working, retired or simply curious about new topics - as a guest student you can take part in academic life flexibly and without obligation. Benefit from the expertise of our lecturers and the interdisciplinary diversity of our university.

Information on the guest lecture program

If you are already a student at our university, additional admission as a guest student is not possible. If you would like to take a module from another degree program, please contact the relevant examination board.

Deadlines

  • The application for admission as a guest student must be submitted by March 15 (for the summer semester) or by September 30 (for the winter semester).
  • Guest student status must be applied for separately for each semester.

Fees

  • The semester fee for guest students is 150 euros per semester. You can attend as many courses as you like, as long as the dean agrees (over 4 semester hours per week).
  • The fee is reduced to 100 euros per semester if you only wish to attend one course (up to 4 semester hours per week).
  • If you wish to take examinations, the fee is an additional 50 euros per subject.

Exemption from the obligation to pay fees

  • Students of other universities in Lower Saxony with state responsibility do not pay fees (proof required, e.g. certificate of enrollment)

Take an Exam

  • Guest students are entitled to take courses and examinations. A fee of 50 euros is charged per course or examination.
  • You can register in writing at the Enrolment and Examination Office within the examination registration period of the respective degree program. You will receive a fee invoice after registration.
  • A certificate will be issued for successfully completed coursework and examinations. This confirms that the course was completed as a guest student.

Additional Department of Engineering:

  • When applying for admission, you must submit proof of previous examination attempts in the module in question or in modules with similar content or declare that either no examination attempts have already been completed or, if not, how many/how many examination attempts have already been completed (current performance overview).
  • A maximum of two guest students may be accepted per semester and module.
  • If the number of these examination attempts exceeds the number of permitted examination attempts in the associated degree program at Jade University, admission to the examination will be denied.
