Scholarship and Mentoring Program for Foreign Students

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) supports the joint scholarship and mentoring program (STIBET I und DAAD-Preis) with funds from the Federal Foreign Office (AA).

The program serves to improve general and subject-specific assistance and support as well as to create hospitable and conducive environments at higher education institutions for foreign students and doctoral candidates who are in Germany for the purpose of study, further education, teaching and research stays or to acquire the German educational and language skills required for study. The aim is to make Germany more attractive and competitive as a place to study by significantly improving support. It also aims to promote cultural exchange and networking.

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) also supports the STIBET III Matching Funds program with funds from the Federal Foreign Office (AA).

Its objective is to encourage German higher education institutions to cooperate with companies, private donors, foundations or foreign governments and to increase the total number of scholarships for foreign students and doctoral candidates through the third-party resources (Matching Funds).

The types of scholarships awarded are as follows:

  • Studienabschluss-Stipendien
  • Stipendien für besonderes Engagement
  • Kontaktstipendien
  • Matching Funds Stipendien
  • DAAD Preis

The DAAD-Preis is usually awarded once a year and honours outstanding students or doctoral candidates who have distinguished themselves through special academic achievements and remarkable social or intercultural commitment. This is designed to demonstrate to the general public precisely how much of an asset foreign students and doctoral candidates are to the university community. Students cannot apply for the DAAD Preis themselves. The award is made upon nomination by the professorate.

If you would like to apply for a Stibet scholarship, please submit the following documents in full via e-mail to the International Office each year in January for the summer semester and in July for the winter semester.
