No room for antisemitism and violence

The Jade University of Applied Sciences is an open-minded place. People from more than 80 nations study, work and live together on our campus. We see our University as a place of diversity and non-violent co-existence. Antisemitism and discrimination, on the other hand, have no place at the Jade University.

This applies to content that condones or relativizes the terror of the Hamas, questions Israel’s right to exist or attacks Jews as a whole. But also, exclusionary behavior towards people of Palestinian origin as well as racist discrimination in general is not tolerated at the Jade University.

Respectful interaction with one another is the basis of our social solidarity and our democracy. We at the Jade University of Applied Sciences share responsibility for this.

We are all called upon to be attentive in this regard. Publications in all usual communication channels – including social media – should be critically questioned and, in case of doubt, a trusted person at the University should be informed about discriminating or antisemitic content.

Quote from the HRK President Professor Dr. Walter Rosenthal (translation):
„We tolerate no violence, neither verbal nor physical, no antisemitism, no exclusion of any sort – also not against students or staff of Palestinian origin, who are also currently concerned.” (Hochschulrektorenkonferenz: „HRK fordert entschiedenes Eintreten gegen Antisemitismus an Hochschulen“, 15.11.2023

Definition of antisemitism (translation):

„Antisemitism is a certain perception of Jews, which can be expressed as hatred towards Jews. Antisemitism is directed in word or action against Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property as well as against Jewish community institutions or religious establishments. In addition, the state of Israel, which is understood as a Jewish collective, can also be the target of such attacks.” (Auswärtiges Amt: Bundesregierung unterstützt internationale Arbeitsdefinition von Antisemitismus, 22.09.2017
