Admission requirements and restrictions
Admission requirements
There are various qualifications with which you can prove your university entrance qualification. In addition to the classic educational qualifications of the general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur), the subject-related higher education entrance qualification (Fachgymnasium / vocational grammar school) and the entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences (Fachoberschule), the higher education entrance qualification can also be proven by a vocational qualification.
If you discover that you do not fulfill the requirements for a university entrance qualification, we will be happy to inform you about suitable ways to obtain a university entrance qualification.
English language skills are required for some degree courses. Please refer to the following table to find out which certificates you need to submit and which level is required: recognized language certificates
German language skills for foreign applicants
In accordance with § 1 (4) of the Jade University's enrolment regulations, enrolment for applicants with a foreign educational qualification recognized as equivalent may be made dependent on the applicant having sufficient knowledge of the German language. This must be confirmed by a German language test.
Please refer to the following table for the required German language skills:

If you have any questions, please contact the Enrollment Office in good time.
Admission restrictions – NC
Some degree programs have restricted admission (NC).
The following then applies: If the number of applicants exceeds the number of study places, a selection procedure decides on admission. In addition to the grade of the university entrance qualification, completed vocational training is assessed according to the subject-related proximity to the degree course and the final grade according to a bonus system.
If you are interested in a degree course with restricted admission, don't be discouraged and apply regardless of your GPA (Grade Point Average)!
A general description of the requirements for university admission in Lower Saxony can be found at the “Koordinierungsstelle für die Studienberatung in Niedersachsen” . There you will also find further information about studying at universities and equivalent institutions of higher education.
Admission restrictions - Pre-study internships
Some degree programs require a pre-study internship. You can find out whether and to what extent this is required in the admission regulations for your desired degree program. Please address detailed requests regarding content directly to the departments.
To make studying easier - especially at the beginning - applicants are strongly advised in their own interest to complete the internship in full before commencing their studies.
